Some of my favorite weddings to plan are ones in which the couple has no or close to no idea of what type of wedding they want. That was the case with Melissa and Ian. I met with the couple only two months prior to their wedding and found out Ian had moved to North Carolina and met Melissa. As he discovered what the region had to offer, he had seen Sarah Duke Gardens and thought that would be a wonderful place to get married. Melissa agreed so that became the first step in planning their big day.

After conversations with them about what their interests and tastes are, it became apparent that a luxurious, intimate wedding would be the way to go. We also discovered an interest in 1920s art décor which we infused throughout the venue and event, giving it a classy, upscale feel. The amazing day was capped off with some wine and red-velvet wedding cake.

It’s exciting to be able to create such a fun and unique event after meeting the couple only a couple months before the celebration. See below for pictures from Melissa and Ian’s special day.
